IBM Quantum Educator Summit

Find live sessions in the agenda!

Empowering Teachers

The IBM Quantum Educator Summit will be a first-of-its-kind experiment in empowering teachers to prepare their students for a future with quantum computing. This conference is for undergraduate professors and high school teachers in any discipline who are eager to fit quantum computing into their courses. Quantum computing has a natural focus on math, physics, and computer science that will be thoroughly covered, with enrichment sessions that other course instructors can explore.

This conference will teach *how* to use the tools, but will not focus on teaching *what* quantum computing is. Also, this conference is aimed at those teachers interested in getting started, not designing a full PhD program.

Integrate into Your Course

The education team at IBM Quantum has produced hundreds of hours of content through the Qiskit Textbook and YouTube channel, meant to teach quantum computing to anyone. The Educator Summit, however, is about more than just content; it focuses instead on how educators can integrate quantum computing into their curriculum and provides an overview of the extensive learning resources available today. The Educator Summit will answer questions like:

"How can I teach my students about quantum algorithms using Python?"

"What kind of learning materials are available for physics students, computer science students, or engineering students?"

"Are there hands-on resources I can use right away in my course?"

...and much more!

Learn from the Best

As part of the Summit, teachers and professors from around the United States who have long taught quantum computing in their classrooms will share their successes. Attendees will see how a group of students built a pedagogically friendly model of a qubit with off-the-shelf materials, learn how the American Association of Physics Teachers prepares their quantum computing PDs, and hear about the work that's gone into successful lessons plans in various classrooms. The Summit has a phenomenal lineup of speakers, all accomplished educators, who attendees will directly learn from.

Attendees will receive training from IBM Researchers on quantum programming tools such as the IBM Quantum Composer and open-source Qiskit software development kit, receive new curriculum packs and training, explore tools to teach quantum computing in an array of fields, and network and plan with like-minded attendees. This event aims to prepare all participants to be able to integrate at least one quntum computing concept into their course during this upcoming school year.
